In Rostov, contract soldier is suspected of committing nationalism-motivated murder

Police officers detained a contract soldier, suspected of involvement in murder of a Turkish man committed in Rostov-on-Don and motivated by ethnic hatred. This was reported by Stanislav Kovalyov, First Deputy Head of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in Rostov Region.

Let us remind you that at night of May 6, the body of the 19 year-old Turkish man with obvious signs of violent death was found near the Sports Palace in Rostov-on-Don. Three young men were detained on suspicion of the murder. Investigators have instituted a criminal case under constituent elements of crime under Paragraph "l" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation murder motivated by ethnic hatred.

"The soldier was detained for organizing the nationalist march in the vicinities of the Sports Palace, which was attended by about 15 persons," said Stanislav Kovalyov.

According to him, the participants of the march, organized by the contract soldier, shouted nationalist slogans, and then they attacked the Turkish man and his friend, who passed by, the "Interfax-Yug" reports.

Another criminal case was instituted under Article "incitement of national hatred", and the issue about the arrest of the organizer of the march is under consideration, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

According to Andrei Barashev, Chief of the First Division for Investigation of Critical Cases of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF in Rostov Region, such a case is the first case of that kind for his Division. "Earlier, we did not encounter such cases. There were fights; however, they never grew into a murder," stated he.
