Volgograd hosts rally of owners of summer cottage land plots

On May 15, in Volgograd, in Lenin Square, a rally was held, at which gardeners of the gardening association "Gourmand" urged officials to fulfil the law on the summer cottage amnesty adopted by the State Duma and to legalize the summer cottage land plots, which were allocated to the people more than twenty years ago.

The participants of the protest action stood with posters reading: "Official, give ownership of summer cottage land plots", "Summer cottage land plots feed us", "We have tomatoes, and budget has taxes", "State Duma adopt law, and local authorities fail to execute it", "Summer cottage is pensioner's leisure".

The protest action was attended by several dozen of residents of all ages, young mothers with children, and pensioners, the IA "Vysota 102" reports.

The protest action was caused by the refusal of officials to legalize buildings and land plots of members of the gardening association, since these land plots are located in the territory, where the Third Longitudinal Highway will be constructed.

The participants of the rally declared their willingness to continue the protest action. They planned to hold single pickets near the administration buildings, near the railway station, and in the vicinities of the shopping centres. The protestors sent to the President an appeal asking to help make the officials comply with the law of the summer cottage amnesty. The rally also announced that the members of the gardening association are ready to go on a hunger strike, the IA "Volga-Kaspiy" reports.

Till present, representatives of the Volgograd City Mayoralty did not responded to the demand of the protestors.

It should be noted that the "Summer Cottage Amnesty" was introduced by the Federal Law No. 93-FZ, which entered into force on September 1, 2006. It established a simplified procedure for privatization of land plots, houses and other structures in citizens' private use, and extended the period of free privatization of municipal housing.
