Authorities intend to close Bart tent refugee camp

Bart, a tent camp for Chechen refugees in Ingushetia, will be demolished soon, First Deputy Head of the Federal Migration Service Militia Major-General Yunash said at a news briefing on February 5.

"I will sign an order, one of these days, to close down one of the tent camps, namely Bart. It is home to as few as 680 people. It is not economically viable to maintain camps with less than 1,000 tenants," said General Yunash.

According to him, "most of the camp residents will leave for Chechnya", and those who do not want to do it will stay in Ingushetia but will live in normal rooms. Good lodging will be allotted to those who will arrive in Chechnya too, added Mr Yunash.
