Resident of Kaspiisk claims his brother's kidnapping of power agents

In the city of Kaspiisk, relatives of Sedritdin Khalibekov, a local resident, seek help from rights defenders in searching for him. They believe that Makhachkala policemen had to do with Sedritdin's disappearance. However, law enforcers fail to confirm this information.

Gaifutdin Khalibekov, Sedritdin's brother has submitted his application about the kidnapping to the Dagestani regional organization "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy).

According to his story, on May 11 Sedritdin Khalibekov, born in 1980, left his home in Kaspiisk in Chernyshevsky Street at 3:40 p.m. and went to his mother-in-law, who lives in the adjacent street.

"Five minutes later, Sedritdin's wife Fatima was visited by a neighbour who asked about where her husband had been taken. According to the neighbour, right 50 meters away from his home, Sedritdin was blocked by two cars: a black Lada-2110 with the number plate 080 and a dark-brown Lada-2114. Four men in civilian clothes armed with submachine guns jumped out of one of the cars. They talked for a few seconds with Sedritdin; then, two of them pushed him into the Lada-2110. At high speed both cars took off in the direction of Makhachkala," said Gaifutdin Khalibekov.

He is sure that his brother was kidnapped by power agents and is kept by the police.

Gaifutdin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on May 11 at 4:30 p.m. Sedritdin's wife went to the Kaspiisk GOVD (City Interior Division) to apply for the kidnapping, "however, the on duty officer refused to accept her application, citing that it was necessary to bring a witness of the kidnapping."

Fatima said that half an hour later she again came to the GOVD with her neighbour, but they again refused to accept her application, "this time referring to is the fact that the inspector was not there." In about an hour Gaifutdin Khalibekov also went to the GOVD to apply about the kidnapping, but, according to his story, he was not even let into the building.

Relatives were looking for Sedritdin for the whole day; then, from unofficial sources they learnt that "at about 3:00 p.m. the Kaspiisk GOVD was visited by employees of the CCE (Centre for Combating Extremism, - note of the "Caucasian Knot"), who arrived in the above cars from Makhachkala; they asked for Sedritdin Khalibekov's address, and received the required information."

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the on duty unit of the Kaspiisk GOVD that they have no detainee named Khalibekov Sedritdin. So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the Dagestani MIA on the incident in Kaspiisk.
