Derbent resident, allegedly kidnapped, kept in SIZO

Jafar Khanmagomedov, a resident of the city of Derbent, who was earlier considered to be kidnapped, is kept at SIZO (pre-trial prison), and he is suspected of possessing an explosive device. Investigatory Division of the Derbent OVD (Interior Division) also verifies his involvement in organizing an illegal armed formation (IAF) or participation in it.

At present, the detainee is being kept at the temporary detention facility of Derbent; till present, no charges were filed against Jafar Khanmagomedov. This was reported by the message, received by the SMS service of the "Caucasian Knot".

On May 2, in Dagestan, armed men drove Jafar Khanmagomedov, the resident of Derbent, away to some unknown destination. This was reported by his wife Zarema Balabekova.

According to law enforcement agencies, during the search the GOVD (City Interior Division) officers found in the Jafar Khanmagomedov's bag a TNT block, a detonators and a phone. This was reported by lawyer Israfil Gadadov.

"My client made a confession, since he was told that it would be better for him: if he made a confession, he would face a special procedure of consideration. After meeting with me, he gave up his confession. At present, he states that the explosive device was planted to him. It did not belong to him, and he did not touch it. We will apply for a fingerprint, biological and molecular and genetic examinations to check presence of his fingerprints and sweat and fat traces on the explosive device," said the lawyer.

Zarema Balabekova, the wife of Jafar Khanmagomedov, claims that power agents unlawfully detained her husband.

"He worked quietly, and every day he went to work to the communication office. There are no reasons to suspect him of anything illegal. They detained him just to pretend that they combat crime and to earn promotion. They say that he wanted to commit something illegal on May 9. For some reason, they do not catch criminals, who kill people, and, on the contrary, they detain ordinary citizens," emphasized Zarema Balabekova.
