Residents of Sochi demanded to stop night construction works during an action

At night of May, 9, about 50 residents of “Gagarinsky” micro-district came out to Chaikovskiy street demanding to stop night works on construction of a dubbing roadway which is being carried out near apartment houses.

The works are being done by “Mostootriyad-99” enterprise whose employees work on holidays and days off, day and night, residents of the micro-district state.

“We called to Mayor’s hotline but were suggested to tolerate it because an Olympic object was under construction. But we do not need objects for which we must pay such a price as our children and family’s health”, resident of the micro-district Yana Elina says.

The residents of the micro-district who gathered in Chaikovskiy street pointed out that the builders did not fulfill the order of Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov who obliged all the contracting organizations to stop night works by 23:00. In case of violations the residents were supposed to call the police and register the infringements, the participants of the action say.

“Activists from Gagarin, Novoselov and Chaikovskiy streets repeatedly tried to call the police but they did not come. They advise us to appeal to our district police officer. But our district police office in Tsvetnoy boulevard has been closed for already half a year, there is no one there. They explain that there is nobody to work”, participant of the action Alexey Baranov says.

Representative of “Mostootriyad-99” Alexey Tsekov, in his turn, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent he was not aware that construction works were carried out at midnight. He promised to take control in order the works in Chaikovskiy street to be stopped by 23:00.

As a result, construction works at the object were stopped after midnight, the residents reported.
