In Dagestan, relatives of the teen murdered by power agent state protraction of inquiry

Gadjimurad Saidov, an investigator of the Botlikh Inter-District Investigatory Committee, protracts the criminal investigation into the death of the 16-year-old Imadibir Makhiev, who was shot at by Zaur Djalilov, a policeman of the Akhvakh ROVD (District Interior Division), said Denga Makhiev, the casualty's uncle. The investigator referred to overload with work, but promised to investigate the case in full.

The tragedy happened in the village of Karata, Akhvakh District at night on April 16. As reported by a resident of the village, Zaur Djalilov opened fire to kill from his service pistol at young guys, who staged a fight among themselves. A bullet hit the head of a 16-year-old boy. He was urgently hospitalized and died on April 25. Zaur Djalilov was detained.

"Until now, Gadjimurad Saidov, an investigator of the Botlikh Inter-District Investigatory Committee, has failed to question the policemen – direct participants in the conflict. Zaur Djalilov, who shot in the head of Imadibir Makhiev without having any grounds, walks at large. His actions were not re-qualified, and under Article 118 of the Russian Criminal Code (causing grave harm to one's health as a result of improper performance by a person of his or her professional duties) he will faces only a conditional punishment," said Denga Makhiev.

According to his story, immediately after the incident Zaur Djalilov and his colleague Omach Kudiev were hospitalized, with various injuries received in the fight, to the medical unit of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). "Indeed, Zaur was hit several times, but after he shot at Imadibir, but nobody touched Omach even with a finger. None of the policemen addressed local medical entity; they chose to go immediately to Makhachkala, hoping to find support there," said Denga Makhiev.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from Zaur Djalilov, Omach Kudiev or their representatives on Makhiev's statement.

In his turn, Gadjimurad Saidov, the investigator from the Botlikh Inter-District Investigatory Committee, has stated that he could not deal directly with the criminal case related to the death of Imadibir Makhiev. "I'm serving alone four mountain districts; all the time I'm on the road, but the criminal case will be investigated in full," assured the investigator.
