A resident of Dagestan who is under house arrest fears for his life

Some unknown people wearing camouflage uniforms are spying on Seifudin Babaev, resident of the town of Dagestanskie Ogni, who is under house arrest.He fears for his life. This was reported by Dagestani regional organization (DRO) “Human Rights Protection”.

The forty-four-years-old Seifudin Babaev appealed to the human rights center complaining of shadowing. “The cars with tinted glasses are currently standing near the house of resident of Dagestanskie Ogni Seifudin Babaev, Engels street, No 16. They have been standing there the whole evening”, a report of “Human Rights Protection” center runs.

According to Seifudin Babaev, he first saw these cars at about 10:00, May, 2, near the café in Derbent where he worked. “Judging by behaviour of the people in the car he realized that his adduction was possible and called his relatives by phone. They arrived in quantity and took Seifudin home”, representatives of the organization report.

According to the human rights activists, after Seifudin Babaev’s departure some officers of power-wielding structures came up to his sister working in the same café. “Without introducing themselves they started questioning her about Seifudin. By evening these cars settled down fast near the gate of Seifudin’s house”, a representative of DRO “Human Rights Protection” said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to him, on April, 24, members of the top brass detained Seifudin Babaev and his son. “A gun was planted to Seifudin and having long been beaten up he slandered himself acknowledging that the gun belonged to him. He is currently under house arrest”, a representative of the human right center said.

The “Caucasian Knot” has yet no comments from representatives of law enforcement bodies of Dagestan concerning the information of DRO “Human Rights Protection”. Policemen of standby unit of Chief Directorate of the town of Dagestanskie Ogni stated that they were not aware of any flying operations carried out by the police in the town.
