Representatives of "traditional" and "nontraditional" Islam arranged about parity in informing the residents of their activities

On April, 29, representatives of the so-called "traditional" and "nontraditional" Islam gathered in the central mosque of Makhachkala for common dinner prayer. After the end of the prayer with the participation of over 500 people a meeting was held during which an agreement of enlightenment of residents of the republic on different branches of Islam was achieved.

Imam of the central mosque Magomedrasul Saaduev was moderator of the meeting. The action was opened by Mufti of Dagestan, Chairman of Religious Board of Moslems of Dagestan, Ahmad-haji Abdullaev.

There were 10 speakers all in all: five from each party, participant of the meeting, member of Association of alims "Ahliu Sunna" Kamil Sultanahmedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He said that it was a scheduled meeting, preparation for it had taken two months, representatives of the authorities did not take part in it.

Leader of "Ahliu Sunna" Khalilurahman Shamatov considers that the results of the meeting will be beginning to tell in the nearest future. "We specified the range of issues, now we will be solving the problems step by step", Shamatov declared.

Another participant of the meeting Abu Umar Sasitlinsky informed that an agreement of parity appearance in the cyberspace was achieved.

"Yet since the end of last century the authorities scared the residents of Dagestan by a phantom of a so-called Wahabiism or Salafi. There is no juridical or linguistic or any other definition for the term but everyone in the republic knows that it is something terrible and dangerous, alien to everything Islamic and human that must be destroyed immediately. Sticking these labels the authorities were pursuing their own goals and unfortunately, average citizens allowed themselves to be led by them. Dagestan urgently needs new learning the basics today", Sasitlinsky emphasized.

Imam of the central mosque Magomedrasul Saaduev considers that the meeting will help overcome inter-confessional discord.

Bekmurza Bekmurzaev, Minister of National policy, Religious Affairs and External relations of Dagestan agrees with Saaduev. "Today the Moslems gathered to achieve mutual understanding with one another. I am sure they will come together", the official said.
