In Kabardino-Balkaria, GIBDD inspectors are suspected of beating driver and his wife

The investigatory authorities have initiated a case against an inspector of the GIBDD (traffic police) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Kabardino-Balkaria and his colleague from the city of Perm, who are both suspected of beating a resident of Nalchik and his wife. This was reported by the Investigatory Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the ICRF.

As reported by a source from the above Department, on April 3, around 9:00 a.m., the above inspector stopped - in Nalchik, near the kindergarten "Alyonushka" in Elbrusskaya Street, - a Lada Priora car, driven by a local resident. Before that, as he said, the driver had ignored a command to stop.

The GIBDD inspector came up to the car and pointed his submachine gun to the driver and ordered him to get out of the cabin. The driver, his wife and a small child got out of the car.

"When the wife asked the inspector to stop his illegal actions, the latter's colleague - another inspector from Perm - began beating her. The driver tried to pull the inspector away from his wife, but he was attacked from his back by the first inspector, who began strangling him; then, both inspectors inflicted bodily injuries to the driver," said the source.

The Nalchik City Investigatory Division of the Investigatory Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the ICRF has initiated a criminal case against both inspectors, whose names are not disclosed, under the article of "abuse of power by force or threat of force".

On April 21, investigators addressed the Nalchik City Court with a petition to put the GIBDD inspector from Kabardino-Balkaria into custody; however, the petition was denied.

The court has concluded that the investigators' arguments that the suspect could escape from them or put pressure on the victims, witnesses and other participants of the criminal proceedings, or commits a new crime, were not justified.

The court also took into account the request of one of the MPs of Kabardino-Balkaria, who offered to leave the inspector at large under his personal guarantee. The MP gave a positive characterization of the inspector.
