A local resident Timur Danilin disappeared in Dagestan, his relatives report

Relatives of resident of Dagestan Timur Danilin report inaction of law enforcement bodies who are not searching for the missing man who, in their opinion, may be kept in the police department of Navolaksky district.

Timur Danilin's wife Oksana told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that at about 10 o'clock, March, 25, her husband born in 1977 went to work in his car.

"He is a self-employed taxi-driver. When leaving he promised to take me back from work at 13 o'clock. My husband did not come and at 13:30 I called him but his phone was switched off. Being worried our close relatives and I started search in hospitals and police departments. At 21:27 I received a call on my phone. When I replied I heard my husband's voice. He told me that he was in Novolak, he was beaten up and his car was taken away from him. Then some man took the receiver. He introduced himself as an officer of Novolaksky district department and said that I had to bring 50 thousand rubles to Lenin street, the settlement of Novolakskoe, to get my husband back. The man promised to explain on-site why he demanded money and what had happened", Oksana Danilina said.

According to the woman, together with her relatives, 15 persons all in all, she went to Novolakskoe at about 00:30, March, 26.

"The phone from which I received the call was switched off but we went to the police department of Navolaksky district as arranged. The man on duty declared that Timur Victorovich Danilin had never been delivered there and they had not seen such a person at all. Then we went back to Makhachkala", Oksana Danilina said.

After the relatives' repeated unsuccessful attempts to get through to the same phone number at last "the same man who called overnight" replied. According to Timur Danilin's mother, the man who talked to her introduced himself as Arsen and again suggested the relatives to go to Novolakskoye.

On March, 26, Timur Danilin's relatives submitted a statement to the police office of the Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the Russian Federation in Kirov district of Makhachkala on the fact of the man's disappearance.

"After talking to an officer of Kirov district police department by name Dima my mother-in-law and I went to Khasavyurt where we appealed to the department of Federal Security Service (FSS). Together with Zakir, officer of FSS, we met with Arsen in the settlement of Novolakskoye. He was waiting for us in the courtyard of his house. In Zakir's presence Arsen said that in the evening of March, 25, he saw my husband Timur in the front garden near his house. Timur told Arsen that he was transporting some people who beat him up and took away his car and phone. Arsen explained that it happened in Novolak. Timur allegedly asked Arsen to give him his phone to call his wife", Oksana Danilina continues.

According to her, in the presence of the officer of FSS Arsen denied that he knew where Timur was at the moment. Neither did he acknowledge that he demanded money from his relatives. "Arsen and another witness said that there was a swell with a hematoma on Timur's head. They also said they saw district police officer Gadjimurad Akaev talk to Timur, then the policeman called a flying squad and they carried Timur away. However, they would not confirm it in the presence of witnesses because "they still had to live there", the missing man's wife said adding that there was still no information about her husband.

According to her, on April, 20, she appealed to "Memorial" Human Rights Center in Makhachkala asking to help find Timur Danilin as soon as possible and punish those guilty of his disappearance.

Members of "Memorial" pointed out that Timur Danilin was a relative of Magomed Murzabekov detained on March, 12, for storage of arms.
