Stavropol: Gubarev accused of mass murder sentenced to life imprisonment

Roman Gubarev, accused of murdering eight people, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Gubarev refused to plead guilty.

According to the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), "the court has sentenced Gubarev to life imprisonment," the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Earlier, Vladimir Naiko, the convict's advocate said that Gubarev in the courtroom refused from his last plea, finding that "there's no sense, since all his statements at the trial had been satisfied or considered by nobody."

"The investigation has stated that I killed eight people for 1.5 million roubles. I'm a normal rational person, I'm not going to kill eight people for 1.5 million," Gubarev told reporters today. According to his story, he was tortured in SIZO and forced to give "the necessary evidence to investigators" and reject advocates, the "Interfax" reports.
