A meeting against poor state of the roadways passed off in the town of Kotovo, Volgograd region

A meeting against poor state of the roadways was held in the town of Kotovo, Volgograd region, with the participation of about 500 persons. The action passed under the slogan "We want highways like Italian ones".

The meeting was organized by local branch of KPRF party, Union of car owners and Union of entrepreneurs.

The participants of the action demanded that the municipal authorities should not only carry out a serious road reconditioning bust also build them in strict correspondence with State Standard. The protesters explained that they decided to set Italian highways as an example after the information of the Governor's trip to Toscana appeared.

Invitations to come to the meeting were sent to Governor of Volgograd region Sergey Bozhenov and heads of the Administrations of Kotovo district and the town of Kotovo. However, only Chairman of regional Duma Vasily Belousov out all the representatives of the authorities arrived. He spoke about the lack of funds on road reconditioning, V1 reports.

"Let the district and regional administrations settle the question of financing reconditioning of our roadways. The authorities exist to do something, not complain of the absence of finance. We gave the authorities 45 days to undertake concrete operations for road reconditioning", IA "Vysota 102" quotes Valery Solomennov, entrepreneur and one of the organizers of the meeting.

According to member of the coordination team Elena Sosnitskaya, the meeting was authorized, "Kotovo-news" reports.

Next week the coordination team will gather in the town again. They are going to see how the officials will carry out the car owners' demand to put the roadways in order. The organizers of the action assured that otherwise, the residents of Kotovo will come out for actions of protest again, Press service of Volgograd regional Committee of KPRF reports.

It should be mentioned that the state of the highways in Volgograd region causes local residents' widespread dissatisfaction. In November, 2011, activists in Volgograd opened a collection point of bits with which they were planning to backfill the pits on the poor roads of the region. Girls wearing slippers marched along the streets of Volgograd as a sign of protest against poor quality of the roadways.
