Organizers of "Caucasian Games" plan to make them international

The status of the "Caucasian Games" will be changed to make them international. This was announced by Yuri Oleinikov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), at the meeting of the organizing committee of the cultural and sports festival, which was held on March 29 in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria.

"We intend to invite teams from South Ossetia and Abkhazia to the next "Caucasian Games"; the desire to participate in the sports festival was also expressed by teams from Armenia and Azerbaijan," said Yuri Oleinikov. It is expected that each republic will be presented by 130 persons.

The festival programme has been expanded, and it includes volleyball, chess, table tennis, and instead of race uphill and throwing a ball to a target, competitions on sprint and shot-put will be held. This was announced by Aslan Afaunov, Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

Participants and guests of the festival will face innovation also in the cultural programme of the holiday. "We will organize national yards of all entities of the NCFD and hold the folk and ethnic holiday 'Caucasus is our common home', and the participants of the festival will plant an alley of friendship of blue spruce seedlings," stated Ruslan Firov, Minister of Culture of the KBR.
