Today it is the second anniversary of the explosion in the Moscow metro

Today Muscovites and guests of the city are bringing flowers to the scene of the acts of terror in the Moscow metro which happened two years ago.

In the morning of March, 29, 2010, shots rang out in “Lubyanka” and “Park Culturi” metro stations, Sokolnicheskaya line. 40 people perished and 95 got wounding of different extent of gravity.

Today tables covered with red cloth are set in “Lubyanka” and “Park Culturi” stations where the people who come lay flowers. There are baskets with white chrysanthemums and red roses on the tables and leaflets attached to them: “On March, 29, 2010, an act of terror happened here and people perished in it. A memorial plaque will be set in this station”.

Many people stop to lay flowers or read the leaflet but no crowds emerge. Not far from the tables people with armbands and labels “Public order volunteers” are standing not far from the tables. Several policemen are also on duty there, RIA “Novosti” reports.

All the direct executors and organizers of terror in “Lubyanka” and “Park Culturi” stations of the Moscow metro have been established at present, Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation (CIR) reported today.

The investigation considers Magomedali Vagabov, one of the leaders of Dagestani gunmen, who was killed in a special operation in August, 2010, organizer of the explosions. According to secret services, the explosion in “Lubyanka” metro station was committed by native of Dagestan Mariam Sharipova who was Magomedali Vagabov’s wife. The second suicide bomber who exploded herself in “Park Culturi” station was identified as Gjenet Abdurahmanova aged 17, widow of Umalat Magomedov, leader of Dagestani gunmen killed at the end of December, 2009.

The investigation has evidence that metro was chosen as a place for the act of terror in order to cause a broad public response not only in Russia but abroad, too. The terrorists’ goal was to get as many victims as possible.

Many members of Vagabov’s group died but investigation of the criminal case is going on because the investigators have data in their disposal about involvement of other accomplices of the crime in the acts of terror, officials of CIR inform.

All in all, during the past two years since the day of terror the investigators have interrogated over 500 witnesses, 326 different kinds of forensic inquiries, including explosive, chemical and technical ones, have been carried out. Besides, there were over 40 searches. At present the content of the case makes 110 volumes. 168 persons were acknowledged aggrieved on the case, a report at the web-site of CIR runs.
