The people protesting against construction in the territory of a children’s center in Sochi underwent an assault from unidentified persons

Today the picketers on duty who were blocking the traffic of large-size techniques in the territory of a children’s center in Constitution street of Sochi round the clock underwent an assault from unidentified persons.

On March, 28, residents of Sochi recommenced their action of protest declaring that the authorities did not keep their promise to freeze the construction of a parking in the territory of a school center located there.

According to Marina Minvaleeva who at 8 o’clock this morning stood up in the place of the action near the building fence with a poster “Pakhomov! Take the fence away!”, about ten unidentified people wearing black leather jackets and coveralls suddenly attacked her. They dragged the women by her arms and legs several meters away clearing the way for large-size vehicles.

Activist Alexander Popkov came to the picketer’s rescue but the strangers used force against him, too. At this moment several more activists arrived at the scene of the accident trying to block the way to the territory of the children’s center with their own bodies.

The strangers used violence against Marina Minvaleeva again and tore her clothes when she returned to her post.

The activists called the police and waited for an hour but nobody came. They record the events on their mobiles and call to law enforcement bodies: the hotline of Public prosecutor’s office of the region and Chief Directorate of Interior Affairs, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reports.

“However, law enforcement bodies of Sochi are inactive. They take no measures to protect the citizens”, Irina Savina, one of the participants of the action of protection of the trees which are sawed down in process of construction in the territory of the school center, says.

The townsmen who were going to the polyclinic in Constitution street and those taking their children to the school and kindergarten located nearby became witnesses of the conflict.

Representatives of the municipal Administration and law enforcement bodies have not commented on the situation yet.
