24 persons became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus during a week from March, 12, till March, 18

At least 24 persons became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus within a period from March, 12, till March, 18. 19 out of them perished and five got wounded. These are the totals of calculation by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own data and information from other open sources.

Among those lost there are two officers of law enforcement bodies (in Chechnya and Dagestan) and one civilian in Ingushetia. 16 supposed members of paramilitary groups (PMG) were killed: nine in KBR and seven in Dagestan. Four employees of law enforcement bodies got wounded (three in Dagestan and one in Ingushetia) and one supposed gunman in Dagestan.

Kidnapping

A car belonging to missing Akav Khalidov aged 28 was found in a special parking of Khasavyrt. Rashidat Khalidova, resident of the settlement of Chontagul, Khasavyrt district of Dagestan, reported her husband’s disappearance on March, 1.

On March, 13, unidentified camouflaged and masked people kidnapped Ahmed Chumakov, twenty-one-years-old resident of Nazran.

Detentions

A local resident suspected of rendering aid to participants of armed underground was detained by the personnel of power-wielding structures in the submontane Achkhoy-Martan district of Chechnya. The detained man delivered up to the operative agents a hiding place with foodstuff stored for one of the participants of armed underground.

Three residents of Kabardino-Balkaria were detained in one of the country house cooperative societies of Nalchik. Hand grenades were confiscated from them.

On Mach, 13, a thirty-three-years-old resident of Sunzha district was detained by members of power ministries. He is suspected of complicity in the activities of armed underground.

On March, 17, an unidentified person fired upon the policemen who stopped his car for inspection in the highway Makhachkala-Kaspiysk, Dagestan. The personnel of law enforcement bodies got no injuries. The attacker was wounded by a return fire and then detained.

Three participants of armed underground and their accomplices were detained in Makhachkala. The detainees were involved in extortion of money from entrepreneurs for financing their criminal activities.
