In Armenia, picketers at Mashtots Park report on dispersing of action by police

In the park near Mashtots Avenue, police disperses the participants of the sitting day-and-night picket. This was reported by the activist Mariam Sukhudyan.

Starting from March 13, the ecologists, calling for dismantling stalls, transferred to the park near Mashtots Avenue from Abovyan Street, went on the sitting day-and-night picket. On the same day, they held the action "Independent Civilian Court". In the course of the action, the symbolic court considered the lawsuit in the case of demand of dismantling of the pavilions in the park.

Mariam Sukhudyan published on the social network Facebook the message from the event reporting on the fight in Mashtots Park, "which was specially organized by the police" to distract the attention of the participants of the sitting day-and-night picket.

"When we understood the situation, the tent set in the park was surrounded by more than 100 policemen. The police tore the tent, and the people inside it remained lying on the damp ground," states Mariam Sukhudyan.

The activist has also emphasized that law enforcement agencies begun to remove the ecologists on strike from the park. According to her, more than 300 policemen acted in Mashtots Park. The woman calls on all people to join the activists, "since the police wants to forcibly push them out of the park." "Our rights, the rights of peaceful picketers, are being flagrantly violated," she said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the Armenian law enforcement agencies in regard to statements about the incident in Mashtots Park.
