Dagestan: criminal cases where Sapiyat Magomedova was figurant stopped

The lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova reports on stopping of the criminal case initiated against police officers from the Khasavyurt OVD (Interior Division) accused of beating her. The investigation into the case initiated against the lawyer herself with charges of using violence against the police officers was also terminated.

The incident, which formed the basis for two criminal cases, occurred on June 17, 2010. Investigator of the Khasavyurt GOVD (City Interior Division) did not allow the lawyer Magomedova to meet her client, and a dispute arose, during which a force was used against Sapiyat Magomedova. However, the GOVD police officers claimed that Sapiyat herself attacked them, and accused her of insulting them.

On March 12, it became known that the two criminal cases, which were under consideration at the prosecutor's office of Khasavyurt, were closed for unknown reasons: "I can not even say exactly, when it was decided to terminate the investigation into the both cases, since I was not informed about that," Sapiyat Magomedova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Sapiyat Magomedova intends to challenge the decision of the prosecutor's to close the criminal case initiated against the police officers from the Khasavyurt OVD accused of beating her on June 17, 2010.

The Khasavyurt prosecutor's office refused to comment on the investigator's decision.
