According to CEC of Chechnya, almost 100 per cent electors supported Putin but people doubt

Activity of the population at the election of President of the Russian Federation was very high in Chechen Republic and 99,82 per cent of the electorate voted for Vladimir Putin. Residents of the republic doubt that this data is true.

“The citizens’ attendance at the polling stations during the election of President of the Russia made 99,59 per cent. 99,82 per cent out of them supported candidate Vladimir Putin. The final results will be known before noon”, CEC of the republic reported.
Central Election Committee of Chechnya states that the other four candidates have not polled even one per cent votes. According to a representative of CEC, about 0,04 per cent voted for Gennady Zyuganov and Mikhail Prokhorov, Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Sergey Mironov polled about 0,03 per cent votes.

Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov estimated such results of voting in the republic as “consequent and fair”. “Today the Chechen people are at the brightest page of their centuries-old history. Therefore I consider it consequent and fair that the majority of the electors in the republic have voted for Vladimir Putin”, he declared on March, 4.

However, local residents and experts point out that this election of President of Russia in the republic was unprecedented from the point of view of the scale of pressure on the citizens and forgery.

“I did not wish to go to the polling station but my neighbour came to me and said that the persons who would not vote would not receive any documents in the offices of housing and communal services and would have other problems, too. That is why we went together and voted for Zyuganov. None of my family and friends voted for Putin for people well remember who started the second war in our republic. This was the biggest lie invented by our authorities”, resident of Grozny Leila A. considers.

“There were a lot of cars near all the polling stations which we had never seen before. People were brought in minibuses and cars, big groups and teams of them. And no one considered it forgery. It was not the people who voted for Putin, it was the authorities he put here”, local resident Said-Hasan M. says.

“It's amazing that our authorities did not impulsively produce 150 per cent residents of the republic who allegedly supported Putin. Everyone knows well the way high attendance in the republic was achieved. Naturally, no reasonable person will ever take seriously the figure of 99 and a half per cent people participating in the election and almost 100 per cent supporting one of the candidates”, one of the local experts says.
