AI urges to find Ingushetian resident Rustam Aushev, who disappeared in Mineralnye Vody

The human rights organization "Amnesty International" (AI) issued a statement demanding to immediately investigate the enforced disappearance of Rustam Aushev, a 23-year-old resident of Ingushetia, establish his whereabouts and ensure the observance of his rights.

"A person disappeared in Northern Caucasus; and this is one of the rare cases, when the relatives have video record and witness testimony to help prove the involvement of power bodies in the kidnapping. Several days passed since the Rustam's disappearance. If we act quickly, we can save Rustam and urge to investigate other similar crimes," reports the AI's statement released on February 22.

Rustam Aushev, the 23-year-old resident of Nazran, disappeared on February 17 in the city of Mineralnye Vody. He was waiting at the railway station for his train, which was to set off at 7:00 p.m. Moscow time. The Ingushetian resident was to go to work to Belarus.

According to relatives of the disappeared man, Rustam Aushev was captured by power agents. It is reported about the people, who saw how on the other day people in civilian clothes detained Rustam Aushev and drove him away in a white Gazel van.

"Besides, the relatives were shown a video record of events recorded by the surveillance camera. Railway station guards reportedly saw a van, which was parked at the railway station in violation of the rules and demanded to park it at another place. As far as we know, a person from the van showed them the FSB certificate; however, he removed the van," emphasizes the AI's statement.

On February 19, the Rustam Aushev's relatives filed a complaint to the linear police station, to the local interior division, and to the FSB Department in the city of Mineralnye Vody, demanding to initiate investigation into the disappearance of Rustam Aushev.

Till present, the Rustam Aushev's relatives know nothing about what happened to him after the kidnapping and who kept him. According to his relatives, Rustam Aushev was never involved in illegal activities.
