Khalidov: Chechen power agents should not take part in special operations in Dagestan

The participation of Chechen law enforcers in special operations in Dagestan is negatively perceived by the public of Dagestan.

On February 17, in the Nozhai-Yurt district of Chechnya, multiple power units blocked – according to their data – the detachment of Magarbi Timiraliev and killed seven militants. The special operation began in the forested mountainous area of the high Nozhai-Yurt District and was completed in the Kazbek District of Dagestan. The head of Chechnya Kadyrov said that this year the authorities of the two republics had agreed to jointly fight against the armed underground.

This practice is flawed, says Denga Khalidov, a publicist and co-chair of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus.

"Chechen law enforcers have nothing to do in Dagestan. The latter has enough its own forces. Even if today there are some advantages, although I personally doubt about it, in the strategic perspective it will cause deterioration of relations between the brotherly nations. Decades later no one will remember why Chechens had come to Dagestan, but the very fact will be analyzed only on the negative side," said Khalidov.

The poet and publicist Adallo was even more emphatic: "We need to address the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and ask him to forbid his power agents to participate in such special operations. And not only that: I know that neighbours' law enforcers are involved in other actions. They behave without tact and defiantly; this behaviour can ruin the relationship between the two fraternal nations," said Adallo.

The press service of the Dagestani MIA has stated that the actions of power agents were legitimate. "All law enforcers are under control of the united centre. Policemen may take part in any operations in the territory of Russia," a source from the Dagestani MIA told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

See earlier reports: "MIA: 17 policemen lost in special operation on Chechen-Dagestani border", "Three policemen perished in a special operation in Chechnya", "Power agents continue searching militants on Chechen-Dagestani border," "Special operation on Ingush-Chechen border was fruitless."
