About a hundred human rights defenders to take part in "United Caucasian Forum" in Ingushetia

The delegates of the First Congress of the "United Caucasus Forum", which will be held tomorrow in the city of Nazran, are arriving in Ingushetia. In total, according to organizers, the event will be attended by about one hundred activists from human rights and non-governmental organizations of Northern Caucasus.

"Lyudmila Alekseeva, the head of the Moscow Helsinki Group, has put off all her appointments and come to Ingushetia. Other guests are expected throughout the day and tomorrow morning," Kheda Saratova, the head of the non-commercial organization (NCO) "Objective" (Chechnya), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

However, according to Ms Saratova, it is already known that not all of the republic will be represented at the Congress of the Forum. "There are much difficulties with human rights activities in Karachay-Cherkessia; we even didn't know whom to invite from there," she said.

According to Ms Isaeva, the Congress plans to discuss the most pressing problems of the North-Caucasian republics. "The audience will listen not only to independent human rights activists, but also heads of Ombudspersons' offices. Ombudspersons from Chechnya and Ingushetia have already confirmed their presentations on the situation in their republics," she said.
