Mother of a resident of Ingushetia reports beating him up by the police personnel

On February, 1, a group of young guys in Ingushetia who violated road regulations were detained by the personnel of Malgobek Department of Interior Affairs. One of them, Akraman Chakhkiev, was beaten up by the policemen on the way to the municipal police department, his mother Roza Chakhkieva states.

"My son was detained in the evening of February, 1. As it became known later, the guys hurried to get home and violated road regulations. The policemen on guard started shooting following them but the guys stopped their car, made a U-turn and drove up to the post to explain themselves. The policemen started beating them at once, threw them into their car and carried them away to the police department. My son was kept there for almost two days in spite of the fact that he was not even at the wheel", Chakhkiev's mother said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Roza Chakhkieva also said that her son Akraman was in hospital at the moment with a diagnosis of brain concussion.

The Department of Interior Affairs of Malgobek district confirmed the fact of Chakhkiev's detention to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. A representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs said that the driver of the car in which Chakhkiev was following committed a gross violation of road regulations, therefore the car was stopped by the policemen on duty.

"However, the young men who were in the car were in a drunken state and started using obscene language. A scuffle broke out as a result and the infringers were immediately delivered to the police department for clarification of the circumstances of the incident and released two days later", the representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs said.

Chakhkiev's attorney informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the relatives of the aggrieved young man submitted a statement to the standby unit on wrongful actions of law enforcement personnel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has yet no comments from representatives of the Ministry of Interior Affairs concerning beating up Akraman Chakhkiev during detention or from the physicians on Chakhkiev's diagnosis and state.
