Russian President decrees extra pay to investigators working in Northern Caucasus

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on additional guarantees and compensations to investigatory officers, who work in Northern Caucasus. He announced that during today's meeting with Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

In particular, the decree provides a premium to a basic salary of up to 50 percent.

"Sometimes they work risking their lives; they investigate very complex terrorism-related and other crimes. I think it is absolutely fair that this should be taken into account in determining the forms of material incentives," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Dmitry Medvedev as saying.

In his turn, Alexander Bastrykin thanked the president for such a decision and stated that it was the timely decision. He has noted that several thousand members of the ICRF work in Northern Caucasus, and unfortunately, sometimes some of them are killed.

Let us note that, according to the decree, signed by the President, members of the investigatory bodies, located in Northern Caucasus, and the investigators, assigned to positions in the region to perform the tasks, will benefit a privilege that, for their pension calculations, one month of their service will be counted for one and a half months. Besides, one month of stay in hospitals because of injury, concussion or permanent injury got while on duty will be counted for one month and a half.

"To pay the investigatory officers, assigned to positions to perform the tasks in the territory of Northern Caucasus region, 3-fold per diem allowance of the established standard. To support children of killed (deceased) or missing investigatory officers or those officers, who have become disabled in the performance of their duties, located in the territory of Northern Caucasus region; and to provide investigatory officers, assigned to positions to perform the tasks in the territory of Northern Caucasus region, with priority places in preschool educational institutions," states the document, published on the website of the Russian President.

Besides, according to the document, children, parents and spouses of deceased or missing investigators will be provided with free trips to resorts and recreational facilities. And the ICRF will be allowed to reimburse injured investigators' families costs of travel to the medical treatment facilities and to reimburse families of perished investigators costs of travel to places of identification and accommodation costs. Furthermore, once a year, travel costs of one family member of perished investigator to the place of burial will be reimbursed.
