An action "I did not vote" stopped in Adygea

Association of noncommercial organizations in Adygea "In Defense of the Voters' Rights "Golos" ("Vote") and civil movement "Union of Slavs of Adygea" stopped an action "I did not vote" the beginning of which was announced in December, 2011.

It should be reminded that the organizers of the action were planning to make a round of the electoral districts were, according to their data, ballot-stuffing took place during the election of deputies of State Duma on December, 4, 2011, and collect statement of the citizens who did not go to the polling stations. The organizers intended to appeal to court if after the end of the action it was discovered that the number of statements collected exceeded the number of those who did not vote upon the data of the election committees.

"We made a round of several houses in okrug No 130 of Maikop. We found out that a lot of people did not take part in the voting. But the citizens who did not go to the polling stations refused to sign statements of having not voted. Therefore we had to stop our action", Vladimir Karataev, Coordinator of Association of noncommercial organizations in Adygea "In Defense of the Voters' Rights "Golos" in the Republic of Adygea and member of the Board of "Union of Slavs of Adygea", said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In Karataev's opinion, the reason for such a situation was the people's fear to get under the officials' pressure.

"In particular, we have also tried to collect statements from residents of the aul of Mamkheg who did not vote. According to the data of the election committee, only five persons did not come to the polling station there. Ten statements from residents of this electoral district would be enough to appeal to court. But the people also refused to sign the statements", Karataev says.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that there was an information from the regional branch of KPRF party that they sent nine complaints of violations to Central Election Committee (CEC) of Adygea but the decisions of CEC were not taken in favour of the communists. Regional branches of other parties informed that they had no complaints.
