Moscow honours memory of victims of terror act in "Domodedovo" Airport

Today, on the day of the anniversary of the terror act in the Moscow international "Domodedovo" Airport, relatives of victims gathered at the place of tragedy to honour their memory. The terror act took 38 human lives.

Today, the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) announced the completion of the investigation into the case of the terror act, the ICRF's statement was dated to the anniversary.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the terror act in the "Domodedovo" Airport occurred on January 24, 2011, and took 38 human lives, including the life of the suicide bomber. Other 173 citizens of Russia and foreign countries were injured. According to investigators, the terror act was committed by Magomed Evloev, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Ali-Yurt of the Nazran District of Ingushetia.

Dokku Umarov, the leader of militants of North Caucasus, claimed responsibility for organizing the terror act. It was announced today the final charge in the case of the terror act will be filed against four natives of Ingushetia Ilez and Islam Yandiev, Akhmed Evloev, and Bashir Khamkhoev.

Today, at 4:30 p.m., in the arrival area of the international airlines of the "Domodedovo" Airport people laid flowers to the place of tragedy occurred on January 24, 2011. The ceremony was attended by five relatives of the victims.

The funeral ceremony was held in the Orthodox Chapel In the Name of the Archangel Michael, located at the airport. Its area is only 9 square meters; so, not all relatives of the terror act's victims were able to get inside, the "Pyaty Kanal" (Fifth Channel) reports.

"500,000 roubles were spent on organizing the terror act"

On the day of the anniversary of the tragedy, the ICRF announced completion of the investigation into the case of the terror act. Apart from the actual perpetrators of the crime and their accomplices, the investigators have revealed other facts and restored the chronology of events.

"The investigators revealed that the terror act was organized by Dokku Umarov, the leader of the criminal organization "Imarat Kavkaz", who instructed the illegal armed grouping led by Aslan Byutukaev and Supyan Abdullaev, who chosen and prepared Magomed Evloev for suicide bombing," the official website of the ICRF reports today.

According to the investigators, on the day of January 24, Magomed Evloev with a bomb under his clothes took a taxi to the "Domodedovo" Airport. He committed suicide bombing at 4:30 p.m.

"The terrorists wanted to affect as many foreigners as possible. That very fact should have led to international resonance of the terror act," the newspaper "Kommersant" quotes a source in the ICRF.

According to investigators, the organizers gave to actual perpetrators of the terror act in the "Domodedovo" Airport about half a million roubles for preparation and commitment of the terror act. The organizers of the crime bought a car, communication facilities and rented an apartment in Moscow, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" (Russian Newspaper) reports.

"The group that organized the terror act comprised 35 persons"

According to the ICRF, in total, the organized criminal grouping, which organized the terror act, involved about 35 persons.

According to the investigators, on March 28, 2011, in special operation in Ingushetia 17 militants were killed, and, in total, as a result of investigation and search operations, 28 members of the "Imarat Kavkaz", involved in organizing or perpetrating the terror act in the "Domodedovo" Airport, were revealed. Four of them were detained Ilez and Islam Yandiev, Akhmed Evloev, and Bashir Khamkhoev.

On January 20, the Moscow City Court prolonged the arrest period for Akhmed Evloev till March 4. Earlier, the Court prolonged the custody period till January 24 for Bashir Khamkhoev and brothers Ilez and Islam Yandiev.

Umarov, Byutukaev, Rustam Altemirov, Zaurbek Amriev, Mikail Bogatyryov, Islam Evloev, and Ibragim Torshkhoev are on the search list. They were charged in absentia of committing grave and especially grave crimes of terrorist nature.

The investigators verified the information that the defendants Altemirov and Amriev were killed in Istanbul on September 16, 2011, the website of the ICRF reports.

"After the tragedy at the 'Domodedovo' Airport, all airports of the country enhanced security, access and intrabuilding modes, and inspection activities. The absolute control of the incoming citizens is ensured," Elena Kolomeitseva, Press Secretary of the Chief Department for Transport of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), said today.

According to her story, in total for last year, during inspections at Russian airports, transport police revealed 812 crimes. Police officers from the OVDT (Interior Department for Transport) seized more than 78,500 units of ammunition and 3.4 kilograms of drugs, which were tried to be smuggled by air, the "Interfax" reports.

After the terror act, the number of staff members of the dog service at the "Domodedovo" Airport was doubled; and the number of staff members of the linear police was increased by one third. Several officials from the transport industry, the MIA and the FSB were dismissed, the "Vesti.ru" reports.
