A resident of Stavropol region convicted for misappropriation of 40 million rubles from the budget

Cherkessk city court acknowledged resident of Stavropol region Oleg Motylev guilty of misappropriation of 40 million rubles from federal budget funds.

According to the investigation's version, the forty-one-years-old Oleg Motylev was a participant of an organized criminal gang which also included employees of Federal Fax Service in KCR and heads of different organizations.

During the period from November, 2008, till April, 2010, the members of the gang committed misappropriation of budget funds by means of value-added tax refund to some subordinate organizations. The investigation established that for this purpose the swindlers drew up forged documents and submitted them to tax authorities of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Investigation of the criminal case according to part 4, clause 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation against Oleg Motylev was accomplished in November, 2011, and referred to court for special procedure of consideration because the defendant observed the conditions of pretrial agreement of collaboration, RIA "Novosti" referring to Head of the Department of Committee of Inquiry of Russia in KCR Sergey Shuvaev reports.

The resident of Stavropol region was sentenced to four years of custody and fined to 2000 thousand rubles for swindling on an especially large scale, "Interfax" reports.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them.
