About 15,000 Sochi residents have power outage

Today in the morning, about 15,000 residents of the city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory, lost electricity supply, because of air electricity mains broken by tree branches, heavy with snow on them. This was reported by Oksana Levitskaya, the head of the press service of Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Kubanenergo".

According to her story, last night huge snowfalls were registered in the mountains of Sochi; tree branches fell down and broke power lines in several places, resulting in outages.

"As on 8:00 a.m., 13 settlements in the mountainous regions of Sochi and the city residential district 'Svetlana' remained without power - partially or completely. The total number of suffered population - about 15,000," said Ms Levitskaya.

Besides, according to her story, as quoted by the RIA "Novosti", the secondary school in the township of Progress also remained without electricity.

In total the emergency and recovery works are conducted by 76 workers in 21 teams and 26 units of special machinery.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 17, due to wet snow sticking, 18 settlements in the Krasnodar Territory with about 8000 of population were partially or completely de-energized. Power supply to all of them was completely restored on the same day.
