DSINE hosts meeting "No to rallies!"

In Dagestan, an ordinary meeting of students of one of the departments of the Dagestan State Institute of National Economy (DSINE) has turned into an agitation against participation in the protest rallies that take place in the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Dagestan State Institute of National Economy that in the course of the recent meeting "No to rallies!" held in the institute, A. Makhmudov, Dean of the faculty "Accounting and auditing", addressed the students and emphasized the non-constructive character of mass actions.

According to a source at the Institute, the Dean has expressed the opinion that the rallies fail to solve the problems of young people and emphasized the destructiveness of such events, which involve young people, including students of higher education institutions of the republic.

At the meeting, the students have stressed absence of any objective reasons that would at present cause protests of the students from the Dagestan State Institute of National Economy.

The institute officials have noted that the students, who spoke at the meeting, also expressed their opinions that "at rallies, using young people, adventurers solve their problems."

"A rally represents a mass meeting to discuss urgent problems of everyday life, to support specific requirements or to express solidarity or protest," stated the institute officials. They have added that the students need to discuss urgent problems at the discussion stages at the institute, by means of radio stations and TV channels. "The students have such a possibility."

In his turn, one of the institute students, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the "Caucasian Knot" that the event was held "to persuade the students not to participate in protest actions."

According to the student, his fellow students "were given mini-posters with the inscriptions reading: "At rallies, using young people, adventurers solve their problems", "Rallies do not solve problems of youth", "Rallies fail to create jobs."

He has also noted that he and his fellow students participate in the rally against the authorities' arbitrariness, held on November 25, 2011. "We went there not for religious reasons and not for quantity, but because of what's really going on in Dagestan," said the student. "People disappear, and then they are found in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Why, if a man is guilty, it is impossible to detain him and give him a fair trial in accordance with the Russian law?"
