Mothers in Kabardino-Balkaria created a human rights organization

Mothers in Kabardino-Balkaria whose sons were killed on October, 13, 2005, or are in the dock on the case of the attack at Nalchik created a Committee "Mothers of Kabardino-Balkaria in Defense of the Citizen's Rights and Freedoms".

Mariam Ahmatova, mother of defendant Edward Mironov, heads the new organization. The organization is registered in the Ministry of Justice of the republic.

The first step of the Committee was an open appeal to the republican community. It runs that the "republic is involved in a fratricidal war".

"It is very painful for us regardless of who is killed for the all the mothers' hearts grieve equally for everyone. No mother wants to lose her children. We arrived at a conclusion that not a single body of power in our republic has a commission to stop the war", the appeal runs.

It is pointed out in the message that a generation of orphans is growing in the republic and remembering "who made them orphans and this hatred will pass from one generation to the next in the future".

The mothers call for everyone who cares about the fate of the younger generation to join them. "In ancient times a woman in the Caucasus was able to stop any strife. So let us remember our customs and stop the fratricidal war together", the mothers call.

The authors of the appeal expressed a hope that the Committee's activities would be supported by the authorities of the republic and non-governmental organizations. "Today we still can save our young people but tomorrow in may be too late", the activists of the organization consider.

The Committee is going to organize a round table conference with the participation of the community in the nearest future and submit concrete offers, Mariam Ahmatova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
