Each polling station in Chechnya to be equipped with two webcams

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Chechnya plans to provide polling stations with books of complaints and proposals. Working groups have been set up to install web cameras at polling stations.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt from a source from the CEC that 15 working groups will install webcams at polling stations. "We plan to install two webcams at every polling station, so that anyone could monitor the voting process in real time mode," said the CEC.

According to the source, they are also considering an issue of providing every polling station with a book of complaints and proposals. "Now the legal division of the CEC office is studying all the aspects of this decision, and if it does not contradict the Russian legislation, on the election day every republic's polling station will have a book of complaints and proposals, where anyone will be able to leave his or her comments on the voting process and express complaints and proposals in writing," said the source.

For holding elections of Deputies of the Russian State Duma and municipal power bodies, which were held on December 4, 2011, Chechnya formed 456 polling stations. The total number of voters in the republic, according to the CEC of Chechnya, makes over 600,000 persons.

According to the Chechen CEC, the voter turnout at the elections on December 4, 2011, was over 99.5%; and about the same number supported the 'Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party. Meanwhile, local experts assert that the voters' activeness at these elections was not as high as it is presented by local authorities; and the figures announced by the CEC a large-scale fraud. The CEC rejects any violations.

At present, the CEC of Chechnya is preparing for the Russian presidential election upcoming on March 4.
