Ingushetia: Ilyas Nalgiev attacked on the eve of sentencing

Ilyas Nalgiev, ex-Chief of the Karabulak GOVD (Interior Division), who was wounded in explosion, is in critical condition in resuscitation ward. The attempt on him took place at the night before sentencing of a resonant case of torture, in which Ilyas Nalgiev was a defendant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the attempt on Ilyas Nalgiev was committed in the village of Surkhakhi of the Nazran District. The explosive device exploded at the moment, when he approached the gates of the house, in which he lived.

The incident took place around 02:00 a.m. Moscow time, the "ITAR-TASS" reports.

Ilyas Nalgiev was badly wounded and in critical state was brought to the resuscitation ward of the republic's hospital, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Let us remind you that along with Nazir Guliev, ex-Chief of the Karabulak OVD (Interior Division), Ilyas Nalgiev is the defendant in the loud case of torture. The first person, who publicly spoke of torture committed by the defendants, was Zelimkhan Chitigov. He was detained at a bus stop in April 2010 within investigation into the case of explosion in Karabulak. Later, his relatives claimed that he had been brutally beaten.

The consideration of the criminal case against Nalgiev and Guliev was started on September 12. In the course of the trial, witnesses retracted their testimonies. Initially, the case counted 11 victims; however, almost all of them withdrew their claims.

At present, pre-trial restriction measure with regard to the defendants was determined as a recognizance not to leave. Today, the last session, at which the final court decision was expected to be announced, was to be held, the "Life News" reports.

Let us remind you that Ilyas Nalgiev is ex-Senior Investigatory Officer for Special Cases of the Centre to combat extremism, and Nazir Guliev is ex-Chief of the Karabulak ROVD (Interior Division), (he is also the brother-in-law of Uvais Evkurov, Security Chief and the brother of the republic's leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov).
