Two anti-abortion rallies held in Rostov Region

On January 11, believers of Rostov-on-Don and the town of Matveyev-Kurgan held two rallies against abortions. Their participants were handing out leaflets and held talks with passers-by.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a press officer of the Rostov-on-Don Eparchy that the rallies were dated to the All-Russian Day against abortions.

"At first, on the memory day of 14,000 killed Bethlehem babies, all the parishes of the Matveyev-Kurgan Deanery held prayer services. And leaflets were disseminated already during the rallies out campaign leaflets," said the source.

According to his story, residents of Matveyev-Kurgan reacted positively to this initiative of the church; they "recalled the post-war, more severe years, large families known to them families, as well as their own family stories."

"During the rally, Hieromonk Kirill announced a contest for the best anti-abortion poster, which will be presented on a large banner with social anti-abortion advertisements," said the press officer.

On the same day, Rostov-on-Don hosted the action "For life. Against abortions", which was attended by volunteers from the Fund "Our Children", operating under the Church of All Saints. The rally was preceded by a public prayer, after which Orthodox volunteers handed out leaflets and brochures warning against the sin of infanticide to passers-by in the streets," the source from the Eparchy has concluded.

Actions against abortions were held in other cities of Southern Russia. On May 29, 2011, within the international campaign "STOP abortions!", an action "For the life of unborn babies" took place in Krasnodar.
