Stavropol Territory: case of theft of medical products worth 20 million roubles brought to court

Today, the deputy prosecutor of the Stavropol Territory brought to court a criminal case against staff members of the regional clinical centre of specialized types of medical care and managers of commercial organizations accused of theft of medical products in the amount of 20,184 million roubles. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in the period from April 2009 to June 2010, Nikolai Sletkov, the head of the Department for roentgen and surgical methods of diagnostics and treatment, surgeons Alexander Nikiforov and Oleg Belokon unreasonably included excessive number of disposable surgical products in procurement lists.

"At the same time, they re-used disposable products in diagnostics and treatment. Thus, the surplus, created for sale, were directed to Rostov-on-Don to Igor Demensky, Director of the LLC (Limited Liability Company) 'Aibolitmedservis', and to Moscow to Vera Ryabova, the manager of the LLC 'Medante'," the Prosecutor's Office explained.

"During a search, law enforcement agents found part of medical products for the amount of more than 7663 million roubles; the rest stolen medical products had been already sold. The members of the organized grouping distributed the money among themselves," the investigators believe.

Sletkov, Demensky, Nikiforov, Belokon, and Ryabova are charged under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Misappropriation" and Part 3 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing property damage by deception". The maximum penalty for these Articles stipulates ten years of imprisonment. Materials of the criminal case were brought to the Promyshlenny District Court of Stavropol, the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory reports.
