Deputy Mayor of Astrakhan suspected of negligence and abuse of authority

Criminal proceedings were started in Astrakhan against Gennady Didenko, Deputy Mayor of the city, Chairman of housing and communal services Committee. He is suspected of abuse of authority and negligence.

A criminal case against Didenko was initiated according to part 1, clause 286 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation (abuse of authority) stipulating maximum penalty in form of custody up to ten years and part 1, clause 293 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation (negligence) with a penalty of up to seven years of imprisonment.

According to the investigation's version, Deputy Mayor responsible for carrying out a program "Capital repair of apartment houses in Astrakhan region in 2009" and efficient use of funds failed to control capital repair of house No 8 in Lenin square", web-site of Public prosecutor's office of Astrakhan region reports.

According to the office, as a result of the absence of control untrue data was entered into the acceptance reports of the works done stating their accomplishment in full. According to the materials of the investigation, "four million rubles were transferred to the account of the contracting agency in accordance with the request reconciled by Didenko for works on capital repair of the house which were not actually done".

The criminal case against Gennady Didenko was initiated yet on December, 30, but regional Public prosecutor's office made the information public just now, after an inspection of legality of the proceedings, RIA "Novosti" reports. Public prosecutor's office of the city took over the control of preliminary inquiry on the criminal case.
