Ten policemen got injured and one perished during mine clearing in Dagestan

According to more precise data, today ten officers of law enforcement bodies got wounded and one perished in Kizilyurt district of Dagestan as a result of unsuccessful neutralization of an explosive device. This was reported by district police department.

It should be reminded that earlier the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Dagestan reported three, later eight injured policemen and one lost.

"At 18:00, January, 10, at the distance or 2 kilometers from the settlement of Komsomolskoe, Kizilyurt district, on the 761st km of the "Caucasus" federal highway, the police personnel discovered six HEDs (homemade explosive devices) buried into the ground in form of plastic reservoirs of 65 liters capacity placed in the distance of 10 to 15 meters from one another and joined together by wires further taken out to the distance of 600 meters in the direction of the settlement", the Ministry of Interior Affairs reported.

At 21:40 the bomb technicians defused one of the HEDs consisting of a reservoir in form of cut fitting filled with ammonium nitrate with damage agents by a pressure charge. At 00:15, January 11, the second HED was partly destroyed by a pressure charge. During examination of the remaining part of the HED a spontaneous explosion occurred, web-site of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Dagestan reports.

According to preliminary but more precise data, one policeman perished and about ten got wounded. The area was cordoned off and since morning the works went on. The circumstances of the emergency are being clarified, RIA "Novosti" reports.
