Supporters of political prisoners detained in Rostov-on-Don are back at large

The two activists, who took part in the action on December 30 in Rostov-on-Don demanding to release Russian political prisoners and were detained, wrote their explanations about participation in an unsanctioned event and were set free in two hours.

The detainees are Vladislav Makshanov, an activist of the movement "Left-Wing Front" and Sergey Rusakov, an activist of the movement "Civil Committee".

"We wanted to bring photos of political prisoners and light candles to attract attention. However, policemen, including agents of the Centre to Combat Extremism, who had been waiting for the protesters, prohibited us to unfold portraits of the arrested oppositional leaders under the pretext that they are posters," said a source from the press service of the "Left-Wing Front".

According to his story, "as a result, one picketer stood up with a poster "Freedom to Udaltsov, Tolmachov and Zhuravlyov!", while others stood silently with lighted candles." "However, the police saw a violation in it, and 20 minutes later after the start of the flash mob, they detained two persons."

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of law enforcement bodies on the reasons of detention of protesters in Rostov-on-Don.
