An unauthorized action in protection of a public garden passed off in Anapa

On December, 29, several hundred residents of Anapa came out in protection of the public garden named after Avanesov. During the unauthorized action the participants dismantled the building blocks set in the area of the garden.

The public garden in Anapa was opened in memory of honorary citizen of the town, Honoured Doctor of Russia Vladimir Nicolaevich Avanesov. Construction of blocks of flats is planned there.

This week a metallic fence was set in the territory of the recreation zone. The developer whose name is unknown at the moment has practically destroyed the public garden, "Recreation in Anapa" media reports.

It took the residents of Anapa 45 minutes to dismantle the iron bearing the builders had hammered into the colured tile and the flowerbeds. The action was unauthorized and suppressed by the police flying squad. No one was detained.

The townsmen also organized collection of signatures against building commercial dwellings in the public recreation zone.

The area fenced off is part of a recreation zone meant for health-improving purposes. The law prohibits construction of objects mismatching the designated use here. Any systematic business activity can be carried out in such an area only after a state ecologic expertise the procedure of which includes public hearings.
