Participants of the meeting in Sakharov prospect are going to gather again in February

The authorities of the country heard the voice of the demonstrators in December in Moscow who came out in opposition against the official results of State Duma election but their reaction was "weak and halved", participants of the protest actions in the Russian capital consider.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on Saturday, December, 24, a mass meeting of protest against the results of parliamentary election was held in Sakharov prospect of the Russian capital. According to the organizers' data, over 130 thousand people came to the Moscow meeting on that day, Chief Directorate of Interior Affairs gives a figure of up to 30 thousand. The meeting went under strengthened police guard. On both sides of Turgenevslaya square special police techniques, paddy wagons and ambulances were standing. According to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent's observations, there were not so many of them at the meeting of December, 10, in Bolotnaya square, this time the paddy wagons were standing along the whole way from "Turgenevslaya" metro station to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Two new points were added to the resolution of the meeting of December, 24, in Sakharov prospect: if the authorities do not take into consideration the demonstrators' demands in January the organizers promised to bring people to the streets of the capital in February again.

Ilia Ponomarev, Deputy of State Duma from "Fair Russia" party and one of the organizers of the meeting in Sakharov prospect, hopes that the demands of the participants of the action of December, 24, will be heard and carried out.

"I have no doubt that the action will be effective, Ponomarev says. - President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin's reaction to the meeting of December, 10, in Bolotnaya square testifies to that. This reaction was weak and halved but one could clearly see that the action produced an impression".

According to Ilia Ponomarev, the authorities hoped that nobody would come to the meeting in Bolotnaya square. "There were three times more people in Sakharov prospect than in Bolotnaya, the deputy continues. - This gives us grounds to believe that the simple and comprehensible demands at this meeting, i.e. release of political prisoners, recalculation of votes, adoption of a new election legislation and ultimately new election with new participants, will be heard and carried out by the authorities".

According to one of the leaders of the opposition Boris Nemtsov, the February meeting will go under the slogan "We'll not let Putin into the Kremlin". "Besides, we will see in January whether they have carried out the demands of the present meeting, the politician goes on. - If they fail to do it even Churov will not help Putin".

Nemtsov emphasizes that in spite of the presence of people with different political views, the actions of protest are going peacefully. "People with different kinds of temperament have come here, nevertheless, we are keeping our cool", the Chairman of "Solidarnost" movement says.

Nemtsov considers that Russia has had a "repressive legislation" on the presidential election: "Putin has admitted only tame candidates, therefore we demand a change to the law of elections. We want the opposition to be admitted to the election, then a single candidate will be nominated".

Mikhail Kasyanov, co-Chairman of the Party of People's Freedom (PARNAS) emphasized peaceful nature of the protest actions which have passed off in Moscow. "We want no revolutions, chaos or massacre, we want a peaceful transformation. So let us return the situation in the country to constitutional boundaries, Kasyanov says. - The regime is deceiving everyone: not only the liberals but also the nationalists, the lefts and the rights. That is why citizens who have never participated in actions like this have come to Sakharov prospect".

Mikhail Kasyanov is sure that the authorities will hear the demands of those dissatisfied with the results of the parliamentary election but do not yet realize the seriousness of the citizens' intentions. "One or two more steps, and the authorities will sit down at negotiating table and we will be able to restore all the facilities to influence them", he considers.

Kasyanov calls the present situation in the country a "system crisis". In the politician's opinion, in order to determine the crisis it is necessary to work out a new legislation on the presidential election and election of State Duma in January, 2012.

Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev specially came to Moscow from Ingushetia to take part in the meeting. "It is no secret for anyone that Ingushetia was the first in the county to give voice against the corrupt authorities. - Khazbiev says. - My comrades Musharip Aushev and Magomed Yevloev initiated protest actions, gathered people for meetings and they achieved success in change of the administration".

According to Khazbiev, everything that is going on in Russia, including Ingushetia, has lasted for already four years. There is only one difference: they are called "swindlers and thieves" here and we call them "gangsters and terrorists", he said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. - Here one can get into custody for 15 days for actions like this and in Ingushetia one can be killed for that".

Anatoly Kucherena, well-known Russian lawyer, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, independent observer at the meeting in Sakharov prospect, emphasizes a high level of organization of the action. "I would not consider it anyone's personal desert, - he says. It is a common desert of the organizers, the police and civil observers".

In Kucherena's opinion, peaceful nature of such actions shows that a culture of holding meetings is coming into being in Russia.

At the same time Kucherena considers it necessary to mention that not everyone who wished had a possibility to speak.

Actions of protest against falsification of the election results were planned on December, 24, all over Russia, including a number of towns of Southern (SFO) and South-Caucasian (SCFO) Federal orkugs. In the South of Russia the meetings of people dissatisfied with the election results passed off without incidents. In the towns of SFO hundreds of people took part in the meetings. Protest actions in the regions of SCFO were not numerous and some of them failed.
