Azerbaijan: relatives of writer Tagi disagree with conclusion on reasons of his death

Today, the Association of Forensic and Pathology Examination of the Ministry of Public Health of Azerbaijan has announced the final conclusion of the examination on the reasons of death of the publicist Rafiq Tagi. However, Tagi's relatives disagree with the conclusion of medical examination.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that unidentified persons attacked Tagi attacked and stabbed him in his neck, abdomen and shoulder. The writer was hospitalized in grave condition into the intensive care unit and underwent surgery. Then, his state of health somewhat stabilized; but on November 23 the writer died.

"The doctors' final conclusion is against the initial examination. The final one has an assertion about his 'suffered infarction'. But my brother never had any heart attack; same as lung insufficiency," said the publicist's brother Alim Tagiev.

He is convinced that Rafiq Tagi died as a result of improper treatment and neglect of the medical staff. According to his story, the family of Rafiq Tagi had already prepared documents for a lawsuit against the bosses of the Ministry of Public Health and physicians of the city clinical centre, where Tagi had died.

Alim Tagiev believes that his brother could be saved, if provided with adequate health care from the very beginning. He noted that after a major surgery his brother was placed from the intensive care unit into an ordinary ward, although he needed close attention and careful medical care of medical staff.

Earlier, the writer's family said that the conclusion about the reason of Tagi's death should be done by foreign experts, as the relatives did not trust local ones.

On the eve of his death, Rafiq Tagi told in his interview to mass media that the attack on him could be associated with one of his latest articles "Iran and Inevitability of Globalization", where he criticized the regime of Mullahs in Iran. The Iranian Embassy denied any involvement of their country in the attack on Tagi.

However, after his death, Ayatollah of Iran Sheikh Mohammed Djavad Lyankyarani welcomed the killing of the Azerbaijan publicist Rafiq Tagi. Azerbaijani experts appealed to the official Baku to immediately react to this statement.
