The Russian Football Union did not review “Gogniev’s case”

During a session of disciplinary supervisory committee (DSC) of the Russian Football Union (RFU) on November, 30, the case of beating up footballer Gogniev at a match in Grozny was not reviewed, in spite of UEFA’s statement that RFU had to review the case after the video of the incident became public.

On November, 29, International Footballers’ Trade Union (FIFPro) made public a video of an incident during a match between “Terek” and “Krasnodar” teams when footballer Gogniev was beaten up. Representatives of FIFPro declared that “the European and World football authorities by all means must look into the incident”. “Gogniev’s case” was expected to be reviewed on November, 30, by DSC of RFU after the video record and FIFPro’s message became public.

However, after the end of the session of DSC of RFU its Head Vladimir Katkov informed that the incident during the match between “Terek” and “Krasnodar” teams was not discussed.

“The statement of the Footballers’ Trade Union concerning “Gogniev’s case” is a personal record. FIFA and UEFA know who deals with the sports function and who deals with criminal penalty. We are responsible for our sports duty”, the “Soviet Sports” quotes Head of DSC of RFU Vladimir Katkov.

“The incident we are talking about took place during a match of National Championship going on under the aegis of the local football association. In the present case it is the Russian Football Union”, RIA “Novosti” quotes UEFA.

Meanwhile, Spartak Gogniev, the participant of the incident in Grozny himself, says that the issue of beating is “already uninteresting” to him. “I have forgotten this theme and do not want to go back to it. I am doing my own business. Why should I see this video? I saw everything with my own eyes. I was offered apologies for the incident and I do not want to discuss it any more. Now I have practically recovered. I am fine”, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” quotes the footballer.
