Armenian government to receive 24 million euros from European Commission

Within the 2011 Armenia-EU action programme, the European Commission will allocate 24 million euros to ensure transparency of the state sector.

The programme will also focus on expansion of the e-government in order to facilitate citizens' access to the public database and to improve the customs legislation in the process of the country's rapprochement with the EU.

As stated by Stefan Fule, High Commissioner of the European Union for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, the decision shows that the EU is ready to fulfil its promise and ensure the political support to Armenia both through funding and by means of advice and technical assistance, the "NEWS.am" reports.

In 2007-2010, the EU allocated to Armenia – through the National Indicative Programme (NIP) – 98.4 million euros. The volume of the NIP for 2011-2013 will make 157 million euros, the ARKA writes.
