GPO of South Ossetia accuses Alla Djioeva of preparing "colour revolution"

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of South Ossetia has accused Alla Djioeva, the winner of the second round of the presidential election, the results of which were abolished by the Supreme Court of South Ossetia, of preparing a "colour revolution". Ms Djioeva has rejected the accusation, but declared that she "would get ready for possible measures of the current authorities against her."

"Once Georgians had tried to impose alternative bodies of power on us. This is another attempt of such actions, but this time – from inside. The reaction of official authorities will follow; measures will be taken," said Eldar Kokoev, Deputy Public Prosecutor General of the Republic.

"Djioeva's actions run against the decision of the Supreme Court and the Parliament of November 29. Declaring herself to be president and creation of a certain state council are outside the legal field. In any case, these are illegal actions," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Kokoev as saying.

Alla Djioeva, the ex-Minister of Education, has treated the statement of the GPO as a provocation, since her supporters are not going to organize any "colour revolution", the "Interfax" reports.

"What can they do apart from talking about 'colour revolutions'? What is their hint to 'colour revolution' about?" asked Alla Djioeva on air of the "Kommersant FM" Radio.

"I don't know what law enforcers mean by treating our actions as a 'colour revolution', but I called on my supporters to be ready for any scenario of events and fight for our victory by legal means," said Djioeva.

She also asserts that many local power agencies had declared that they would not participate in any action against her.

According to Ivan Sukhov, an observer of the newspaper "The Time of News", who receives information from the venue, a column of police reinforcement is on the way to Tskhinvali from North Ossetia.

"This is probably done to ensure some order in the event of mass protests held by supporters of Djioeva," the expert believes. "If so, it'll be a mistake and cause an extremely negative reaction of the international community."
