Dmitry Putenikhin asks court to re-qualify his offence into hooliganism

At court session of the Moscow City Court, Dmitry Putenikhin, the activist of the Other Russia, has acknowledged the fact that he had splashed water in face of the prosecutor, who represented the public prosecution in the trial on the case of the riots in Manege Square. However, he asked the court to classify his act not as threatening the life of the state official, but as hooliganism.

The Moscow City Court left Dmitry Putenikhin in custody.

Dmitry Putenikhin is charged under Part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (threatening to life of a state official), which stipulated sentence of up to two years of imprisonment.

Dmitry Putenikhin and his lawyer Dagir Khasavov asked the court to change the freedom restriction measure to the recognizance not to leave; documents from the actual place of residence in Moscow and the certificate from the job were presented to the court.

From the screen installed in the courtroom, Dmitry Putenikhin has emphasized that he is socially adapted, that he is in common-law marriage and that he plans to register his relations with his civil wife, have children and create a unit of society.

However, the court refused to grant the motion of the Putenikhin's lawyer.
