Georgian President pardons 137 prisoners

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili granted pardon to 137 prisoners on the occasion of the "Giorgoba" holiday. This was reported by Khatuna Kalmakhelidze, Minister of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance.

"Full pardon affected 111 prisoners, sentence was reduced by half to six prisoners, two prisoners faced reduced sentence, and 18 people were released from conditional sentence," the "News-Georgia" quotes Khatuna Kalmakhelidze as saying.

According to the Minister, 111 prisoners will be released after receipt of the documentation. The Minister also stated that eight women and two minors were among the prisoners who had been granted pardon, the "Georgia online" reports.
