ICRC representatives visit Armenian citizens in Azerbaijani captivity

Staff members of the Azerbaijani Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited three Armenian prisoners of war and five members of an Armenian family, kept in Azerbaijan, the ICRC Office has reported.

According to the ICRC, during the visit on November 22, the prisoners of war handed over letters to their families.

At present, three Armenian prisoners of war and five members of one family, who voluntarily entered Azerbaijan, are kept in the republic, the "Trend" reports.

Yeghishe, Ruzanna, Alfred, Gayane and Petros Gevorgyan, citizens of Armenia, are members of one family. They entered Azerbaijan in January 2010. Two prisoners – Okhan Arutyunyan and Gevorg Tovmasyan – went over to Azerbaijan in May 2009, Karen Arutyunyan – in July 2009. They expressed their wish to be sent to a third country, the "APA" reports.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them.
