Eleven persons detained in Shamkhal township of Makhachkala

On November 21, employees of the OVD (Interior Division) of the township of Shamkhal (Kirov District of Makhachkala) detained eleven locals; two of them were heavily beaten, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the father of one of the detainees – Magdan Taimaskhanov.

"In the morning, local policemen entered houses of local residents, allegedly, to check documents. As a result, they took away 11 persons, including my son.

The detainees were taken one by one into rooms of the OVD and asked provocative questions: we know that you are helping militants, be honest with us, and nothing will happen with you. The guys wouldn't yield to provocation and stated that they helped nobody. My son and Ramazan Khairulaev were heavily beaten. Magdan was tortured with electric current; now he is in bed at home," said Asbeg Taimaskhanov.

He added that all the detainees are already at large. The Shamkhal OVD refused to comment.
