Protest action of street traders held in Tbilisi

On November 18, the capital of Georgia saw another protest rally of street traders held in front of the Parliament. The protesters demanded to legalize street trading.

According to Lasha Chkhartishvili, one of the organizers of the action, in recent days we witness massive dispersals of street traders. "We demand to stop persecutions and beatings, and legalize the street trading, which is practicable and allowed in capitals of all the countries of the world," said Chkhartishvili.

According to his story, over the past two days, traders were dispersed in the marketplaces Didube, Railway Station Square and "Dynamo". The next traders' rally will take place in front of the Parliament on November 25, the "Business-Georgia" reports.

Along with that, the Government of Georgia intends to continue regulating the marketplace trade. As noted by Giya Khuroshvili, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government, amendments to the Tax Code are ready, which assume traders' exemption from many taxes, namely, the income tax and VAT; they are allowed not to keep records. He added that the market will move to new regulations gradually, the "GHN" reports.
