In Sochi, ecologists state discharge of harmful substances into Mzymta River

On November 18, a high foaming was observed in the Mzymta River and the Black Sea coastal areas adjacent to its mouth in the Krasnodar Territory; ecologists say about another discharge of harmful substances into the water.

According to ecologists, in the morning on November 18 near the bridge in Adler, abundant foam appeared on the surface of the water and floated on the surface of the river for several hours.

"A similar river pollution with surfactants was registered on August 19. The source of pollution was the northern portal of the tunnel complex No. 3 of the combined road 'Adler-Krasnaya Polyana'," runs the statement of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus.

According to the chemical analysis of the samples taken at the mouth of the river, the content in water of nitrogen and oil products exceeds the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) by three times, and of phosphates – by four times.

The content of synthetic surfactants exceeds the MPC by 13 times, which corresponds to the high level of pollution, says the official website of the Russian "Hydromet", which, however, fails to name the culprit of pollution.
